After a disastrous bank robbery in LA fails Bruce McGray finds himself badly injured and pursued by the FBI. He longs to leave everything behind and start a new life in a place in South America so vividly described in a book he received from a former lover only a few days earlier. Images in the book and violence witnessed that evening bring back a flood of fragmented and somber memories long since buried. He flees his house and heads south but as federal authorities and the New York police close in, Bruce sets out on a desperate search to discover his true identity.

South was written, directed and produced by Gerhard Fillei and Joachim Krenn in association with Adrialpe Media and took 12 years to complete. Between filming and financing the filmmakers worked as art directors for theatres and exhibitions, as well as graphic designers. They have also directed a few short films and a selection of commercials and documentaries. South is their first feature film.
