Austrian author Clemens J. Setz will be at this year’s Guardian Hay Festival on Friday 4 June to present his novel Frequencies (Die Frequenzen) in which he presents life as a chain reaction through the interactions and encounters of his characters. Born in 1982 in Graz, Setz has been studying mathematics, German language and literature in Graz since 2001. He is an overtone singer, translator and founding member of the literary group Plattform. His first novel Söhne und Planeten (2007) was nominated for the Aspekte Literature Prize. Die Frequenzen was short listed for the German Book Prize and was awarded the Literature Prize of the City of Bremen in January of this year.
