The Royal College of Art’s Curating Contemporary Art programme and the Goethe-Institut London have invited Austrian curator Barbara Steiner for the third in their series of ‘Curatorial Dialogues’ lectures.

Barbara Steiner (b. Austria, 1964) is the Artistic Director of Europe (to the power of) n, a collaborative project that takes place in ten cities in and outside of the European Union: Brussels, Istanbul, London, Łódź, Minsk, Novi Sad, Høvikodden/Oslo, Donostia-San Sebastián, Beijing and Taipei. Until 2011 Steiner was Curator and Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Leipzig and has previously directed arts associations in Ludwigsburg and Wolfsburg where she curated exhibitions with artists including Rirkrit Tiravanija, Philippe Parreno and Olafur Eliasson, among others. Her interests focus on the politics of representation, institutional critique, architecture and display, and economic criticality in the field of art and museums. As a writer she contributes frequently to the Fair Observer.

Barbara Steiner will be in conversation with Mark Nash, Senior Tutor of Curating Contemporary Art, Royal College of Art, to discuss her practice and the curatorial issues it raises.
