Austrian documentary films have gained huge popularity in recent years and contribute to Austria’s presence on the festival scene. This double bill presents Workingman’s Death (2005) by the late Michael Glawogger (1959–2014), famed for his hard-hitting documentaries on the lives of the poor, alongside the marvellous essay film Dreams Rewired (Mobilisierung der Träume, 2015), a clever montage of found footage from the 1890s to the
pre-war era, narrated by Tilda Swinton.

Workingman’s Death, Austria/Germany, 2005, 122 mins, Russian, Basha, Indonesian, English, Ibu, Yoruba, Pashtu, Mandarin with English subtitles, directed by Michael Glawogger.

2:30pm - Dreams Rewired, Austria / Germany / UK, 2015, 85 mins, English & German with English subtitles, 4:55pm - directed by Martin Reinhart, Thomas Tode, Manu Luksch.
