Ernst Eisenmayer: Art Beyond Exile

  • 2 Feb 2012 — 23 Mar 2012
  • 7:00PM

The exhibition continues until Friday 23 March, ACF London

This is the first major retrospective exhibition in the UK of the Viennese-born artist Ernst Eisenmayer (born 1920), recipient of the Medal of Honour from the City of Vienna in recognition of his artistic works. Eisenmayer established himself as a painter in London from the late 1940s and as an international sculptor from the mid 1960s. Curated by Fran Lloyd of Kingston University London, the exhibition marks Eisenmayer’s 91st year and presents a rich body of his drawings, paintings and sculpture. These works explore issues of place, encounters and memory, and offer a powerful insight into the complex and multi-sited trajectories of Eisenmayer as an émigré artist in the twentieth and early twenty-first century.

The exhibition will travel to the Sayle Gallery, Douglas, Isle of Man where it will be on view from 6 April - 10 May 2012
