Europe 2013 Why Bother? – Artists and Intellectuals respond to Europe

  • Wed 20 Nov 2013
  • 9:30AM

For the 4th year, EUNIC London, the network of the cultural institutes from the member countries of the European Union working in London, is organising its Annual Conference.

Some great European names in the arts, academia and public affairs will offer their contribution to the essential debate about the future of Europe, giving voice to the expectations, concerns and resolutions of Europe’s creative sectors. Offering an alternative, complementary vision to the dominant discourse, the speakers will enable us to collectively explore a vision of post-crisis Europe.

Speakers include Gabriela Adameșteanu (Writter), Sir Vernon Ellis (Chair of the British Council), Prof. Jürgen Elvert (Jean Monnet-Professor for European History at the Department of History of the University of Cologne), Charles Etienne Lagasse (President of EUNIC Global), Dr. Mikołaj Kunicki (Senior Research Fellow in Polish Studies and Director of the Programme on Modern Poland at St Antony’s College, University of Oxford), Jacqueline Minor (Head of the European Commission's Representation in the UK), Professor Kalypso Nicolaidis (Director of the European Studies Centre at St Antony's College, University of Oxford), Viera Polakovičová (Director of the Slovak Cultural Institute in Berlin), Revd. Donald Reeves (founder of the Soul of Europe), Graham Sheffield (Director Arts for the British Council), Fernando Vallespín (Professor of Political Science at the Universidad Autónoma in Madrid) and more.

Moderated by John Kampfner (former editor of the New Statesman) and Kasia Madera (Journalist and BBC World News Presenter)
