European Literature Night 2014

  • Wed 14 May 2014
  • 6:30PM

In its sixth year European Literature Night presents six of the best writers from around the continent. Superb reportage, humorous explorations of the nature of power, chilling dystopia-meets-crime fiction and haunting portrayals of broken familial relationships all meet for one of the must-see events in the British literary calendar.

With Jonas T. Bengtsson (Denmark), Julia Franck (Germany), Antoine Laurain (France), Diego Marani (Italy),  Witold Szablowski (Poland) and Dimitri Verhulst (Belgium), chaired by acclaimed journalist Rosie Goldsmith.

ELN is an annual literary showcase bringing the best of the continent’s writers and contemporary European literature to the UK. It is a unique initiative involving 28 European Cultural Institutes and Embassies, many arts organisations, and the European Commission Representation in the UK which promotes European literature of all genres in English translation.

Also taking place this evening will be a simultaneous event; European Literature Night: The Graphic Novelists.

The event is followed by a reception and includes entry to the summer exhibition Comics Unmasked: Art and Anarchy in the UK.

European Literature Night is presented in partnership with EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) London, the European Commission Representation in the UK, the British Library, the Czech Centre London and Speaking Volumes Live Literature Productions
