Starting in 2010, Austrian artist Ines Doujak's long term and ongoing artistic research project, Loomshuttles / Warpaths sheds light on the highly complex relationships between Europe and Latin America through the medium of Andean textiles. The exhibition presents posters and postcards accompanied by texts which set up a timeline concerning worker struggles in the chains of textile and clothes production; describe textiles and colours as colonial subjects; and display visual and textual responses of artists, writers and practitioners to a particular textile. The exhibition is curated by Ruth Noack, Head of the Curating Contemporary Art Department at the RCA and MeLa RF4 leader, in cooperation with CCA students.
