Ingolf Wunder is quite simply one of the finest pianists to have emerged in recent years, the winner of several special prizes at the 2010 International Chopin Piano Competition. In this recital he mines the glory of the Romantic repertoire, performing works by the greatest of all composers for piano.

Beethoven’s Variations develop a dance-like melody into a joyful and humorous showcase for vigorous virtuosity. The lyricism and restrained emotion of Chopin’s Nocturnes have made them perhaps the best-loved of all piano works, while his technically fiendish Allegro de Concert is one of his less familiar pieces. Liszt’s serene and noble Sonetto was inspired by the poetry of Petrarch, and his monumental Sonata in B minor is one of the peaks of the solo piano repertoire.
