Chicago-based Austrian performance/environment artist Kurt Hentschläger has been invited to take part in this year’s Abandon Normal Devices Festival. He will present ZEE, an abstract luminous landscape that envelopes gallery visitors in dense fog, intense light and surround sound to create a unique live event. Hentschläger, who has been working with time-based media, film, video, animation and sound since 1983, creates audiovisual performances and installations. His current work researches human perception and the impact of new technologies on both individual and collective consciousness. Abandon Normal Devices Festival is an experimental festival of new cinema and digital culture across the Northwest of England. Hentschläger will present his work at FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) in Liverpool.
