‘Artistic creativity is no longer seen as a formal act but as an intervention into society.’ WochenKlausur

Since 1993 the artist collective WochenKlausur have developed projects across the globe which each address specific challenges facing communities. Through a series of relatively small-scale concrete actions, they seek to facilitate effective resolutions.  Supported by Creative Scotland and The Austrian Cultural Forum London, they will enact a new artwork in February 2013 which will explore the possibility of setting up a worker cooperative in the Drumchapel area of Glasgow.

Participatory Economics is part of ECONOMY, an exhibition staged across Stills, Scotland’s Centre for Photography (Edinburgh)* and the Centre for Contemporary Arts (Glasgow).   The project aims to generate constructive public discussion on how the economy impacts upon life.  40 artworks will be presented which address issues that range from migration, labour, sexuality and the crisis of democracy to the quest for alternative futures.

During the month of February WochenKlausur’s project office will be housed in CCA’s Creative Lab.  It is open to the public between 2pm and 6pm, Thursday to Saturday.
