English Garden Lounging has curated a solo exhibition of paintings and drawings by Austrian artist Christoph Schmidberger. The exhibition will be accompanied by a series of music, film and literature events inspired by Austrian writer Robert Musil’s Man Without Qualities.
Christoph Schmidberger’s naturalistic, figurative paintings dispense a certain sensuality coupled with a deliberate detachment. Taking portraits of friends and acquaintances as his material, he documents a poetic world of nature and architecture, of private interiors and sunlit gardens.
