Landscapes of Memory – Das Weiterleben der Ruth Klüger

Tuesday 29 January 2013, 7.00pm | Austrian Cultural Forum London

It is one thing to survive the Holocaust, but quite another to deal with the lasting impact of this experience. Renata Schmidtkunz’s filmic portrait of Ruth Klüger, an American literary scholar from Vienna, deals with these issues by revisiting four significant places in her life: Vienna, California, Göttingen and Israel.

Irène Heidelberger-Leonard will give a brief introduction to the life and work of Ruth Klueger, in particular to Still Slive (Weiter Leben), the book that was to make her famous. Renata Schmidtkunz will give a brief introduction to her film.
