To mark the 200th anniversary of Haydn’s death, Bampton Classical Opera presents Haydn’s Le pescatrici, the uproarious Goldonian farce set in an Italian fishing village. Somehow contriving to combine Cinderella with Cosi fan tutte, this story of dashed ambitions inspired some of Haydn’s most inventive and compelling music. The performances form part of Bampton’s 2009 Austrian classical season.
