Austria-based performance artists Alexander Deutinger and Marta Navaridas (UNICORN) will present one of their choreographic works at the 1st Edition of Birmingham European Theatre Festival 2010.
Look at them now! faces and negotiates the absurdity of watching and being watched, crossing borders between going to the zoo and going to a performance. The work is inspired by the experimental short film "The Perfect Human" (Jorgen Leth, 1967), in which the protagonists perform simple actions, while the director's voice comments from the OFF on what the actors are doing. The combination of action and commentary provokes a reconsideration of what is observed. Look at them now! transfers this basic idea onto a stage setting.
