Exhibition Guided Tour with artists Jane Mechner and Michael Garner

Artists Jane Mechner and Michael Garner invite guests to join them for a special guided tour of the Real Citizens exhibition. Based on their family history, Jane Mechner and Michael Garner recently obtained Austrian citizenship facilitated for victims of National Socialism and their descendants. In Real Citizens, they move beyond the legal paperwork to explore the personal side of this change.

Join them over coffee and cake for a special guided tour of the exhibition.

70 years ACF, Theatre and dance

90 Years of Christine Nöstlinger and 70 Years ACF
Saturday 18 April 2026, 2.30pm Austrian Cultural Forum London

Celebrating legedendary Austrian children's author Christine Nöstlinger on what would have been her 90th birthday, the ACF in cooperation with the Association of German Saturday Schools UK and the German Saturday School Ealing, present two booked out bilingual children's theatre workshops.

Led by Austrian teacher and actress Lena Liedl, the workshops are inspired by Nöstlinger's most famous works including Geschichten vom Franz and Das Austauschkind.

In 2026, the ACF London celebrates its 70th anniversary. Rather than celebrating the ACF itself, we want this to be an ACF – A Celebration of Friends, and of others’ anniversaries and birthdays, such as Christine Nöstlinger's.

ONLINE CineClub: Pripyat
Thursday 23 April 2026, 7pm Austrian Cultural Forum London

This special CineClub marks the fourtieth anniversary of the Chornobyl nuclear disaster which happened on 26 April 1986. Austrian filmmaker Nikolaus Geyrhalter explores Chornobyl’s ‘zone of alienation’, a 30-km restricted zone erected around the nuclear power plant including the town of Pripyat from where 116,000 people were evacuated. The film is a portrait of a ghost town – abandoned since 1986 – and the few people who continue to live and work there.

Exhibition: Touch Nature
30 April 10 July 2026 Austrian Cultural Forum London

Join us for the final instalment of the international multimedia exhibition Touch Nature, curated by Dr. Sabine Fellner. Since 2021, this exhibition series has travelled to fourteen Austrian Cultural Forums around the world, including Berlin, Budapest, Istanbul, Rome, and New York, as well as being shown in a comprehensive presentation at the Lentos Museum in Linz, Upper Austria.

Artists have long been exploring the interrelationship between humans and their environment and the fundamental and irreversible changes to our planet. The artists featured in Touch Nature take a stand against the devastating political, economic, ecological, and humanitarian impact of the Anthropocene. Join us for the opening of this final chapter of Touch Nature featuring UK-based artists Claire Morgan, Jasmina Cibic and Dafna Talmor alongside over fifteen artistic positions from Austria.

Re-Folking Viennese Classics - Britten Sinfonia and ZRI Quintet
Friday 17 April 2026, 7.30pm Milton Court Concert Hall

The renowned Britten Sinfonia will be joined by the ZRI Quintet for a special concert at London's Milton Court, focusing on 19th-century Vienna as a creative cultural melting pot. ZRI Quintet takes its name from the legendary 19th-century Vienna tavern, Zum Roten Igel, which hosted amazing performances by Hungarian and Romani folk bands.

Together, they will recreate the atmosphere of the tavern, with folk-inspired music by Schubert, Brahms, Beethoven and Haydn performed with the folk elements made clearer, and traditional Hungarian and Romani folk pieces played by orchestra and folk band.

BILLA ENSEMBLE at Colour Out Of Space Festival Brighton

The Austro-Romanian BILLA ENSEMBLE returns to the UK for Colour Out Of Space Brighton, a festival dedicated to visionary and experimental music.

BILLA ENSEMBLE was formed in the winter of 2023 on the rare occasion of Michiu, the concept horse, Turmeric Acid and Marie Vermont coming together in Vienna. Coming from different musical backgrounds, a dedication to working with and manipulating magnetic tape in various forms (reel to reel, cassette, minicassette) ties the members together and informs the group's approach to music making, improvisation and listening.

As part of this international residency programme initiated by Waves Vienna, Austrian singer-songwriter Oskar Haag will spend one month in the UK, connecting with key music industry platforms and developing his artistic presence across borders. The London showcase offers an early opportunity to experience Oskar Haag live in an intimate setting, bringing together music professionals and audiences alike.

Austrian band Lucy Dreams is coming to London for a boundary-pushing 270° immersive live experience at Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes in Shoreditch.

The musical landscape is being reshaped by the evolving relationship between humans and machines. Lucy Dreams embodies this transformation through a seamless fusion of analog and digital art, with Lucy — an active artificial band member — at the heart of their creative vision. The trio’s concept explores the dynamic between Lucy and her human counterparts, presenting SonicWaveArtPop as both an expressive and immersive medium that captivates the senses while posing socially relevant questions.

Beautiful and Neat Room at the Little Venice Film Festival

For those of you unable to travel to Graz for the Diagonale Film Festival, The Little Venice Film Festival is screening the feature film Beautiful and Neat Room in London on 27 April. This American-Austrian bitingly absurd comedy about artist clichés, human neuroses and eccentricities within the confined space of the apartment was written, produced and directed by Maria Petschnig (Uncomfortably Comfortable). The film is inspired by her own experiences of cohabitating with other people, having shared her living space with more than 60 roommates over the course of 22 years. She has told The New York Times that sharing her apartment was “a way to survive as an artist in New York City”.
