CineClub: White Snail
Thursday 9 April 2026, 7pm Austrian Cultural Forum London

White Snail proved a big hit at the Diagonale Film Festival in Graz and will soon come to our CineClub in London. This German-Austrian romance was written and directed by Elsa Kremser and Levin Peter (Space Dogs and Dreaming Dogs). The film is inspired by the real-life stories of non-professional actors and follows Masha, a Belarusian model persuing her dream job in China, as she falls in love with the painter Misha.

The film had its world premiere in the main competition of the 78th Locarno Film Festival (2025) where it won the Special Jury Prize and the Pardo for Best Performance for Imbro and Senkov.

Evening Concert: Judith Fliedl
Monday 13 April 2026, 7pm Austrian Cultural Forum London

We are delighted to welcome renowned Austrian violinist Judith Fliedl to an evening concert at the ACF, featuring contemporary composers. The concert dancing with oneself explores the role of the soloist in relation to herself, to her instrument, to electronic sounds, and to the audience.

Judith Fliedl is a Vienna-based violinist and is regarded as one of the most versatile Austrian musicians of her generation. Her artistic work combines solo and chamber music performance with a strong focus on contemporary music, alongside an exceptionally broad repertoire and a deep engagement with artistic research. A national and international prizewinner, she performs worldwide as a soloist and chamber musician and has appeared at major festivals and venues including the Salzburg Festival, Settembre Musicale, Impuls Festival, ECLAT, Beijing Modern Music Festival, Wiener Festwochen, Wien Modern, the Wiener Konzerthaus, the Musikverein Vienna, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam.

Exhibition Guided Tour with artists Jane Mechner and Michael Garner
Thursday 16 April 2026, 2pm Austrian Cultural Forum London

Artists Jane Mechner and Michael Garner invite guests to join them for a special guided tour of the Real Citizens exhibition. Based on their family history, Jane Mechner and Michael Garner recently obtained Austrian citizenship facilitated for victims of National Socialism and their descendants. In Real Citizens, they move beyond the legal paperwork to explore the personal side of this change.

Join them over coffee and cake for a special guided tour of the exhibition.

CineClub: Pripyat
Thursday 23 April 2026, 7pm Austrian Cultural Forum London

This special CineClub marks the fourtieth anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster which happened on 26 April 1986. Austrian filmmaker Nikolaus Geyrhalter explores Chernobyl’s ‘zone of alienation’, a 30-km restricted zone erected around the nuclear power plant including the town of Pripyat from where 116,000 people were evacuated. The film is a portrait of a ghost town – abandoned since 1986 – and the few people who continue to live and work there.

Exhibition Opening: Touch Nature
Thursday 30 April 2026, 6pm Austrian Cultural Forum London

We are pleased to announce that the final installment of the international multimedia exhibition Touch Nature, curated by Dr Sabine Fellner, will open at the ACF London in April. Since 2021, this exhibition series has travelled to fourteen Austrian Cultural Forums around the world, including Berlin, Budapest, Istanbul, Rome, and New York, as well as being shown in a comprehensive presentation at the Lentos Museum in Linz, Upper Austria.

Artists have long been exploring the interrelationship between humans and their environment and the fundamental and irreversible changes to our planet. The artists featured in Touch Nature take a stand against the devastating political, economic, ecological and humanitarian impact of the Anthropocene. Join us for the opening of this final chapter of Touch Nature featuring UK-based artists Claire Morgan, Jasmina Cibic and Dafna Talmor alongside over fifteen artistic positions from Austria.

Monika Stadler - Wales Concerts 2026

In 2026, esteemed Austrian harpist Monika Stadler returns to Wales for a series of concerts. Stadler is one of the most creative solo harpists in Europe and has won several awards at international jazz harp competitions. After engagements with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, she now performs as a soloist, in duet or trio formations, exclusively with her own projects. She begins her Welsh tour in April in Rhosygilwen, Pembrokshire.

Ingeborg Bachmann at 100
Thursday 7 May 2026, 7pm Austrian Cultural Forum London

Ingeborg Bachmann, one of the most significant writers of the 20th century to emerge from Austria, was a cosmopolitan, transnational and rebellious thinker whose work has considerable intellectual reach and political urgency.

A longstanding translator of her work, Peter Filkins, is working on the first English-language biography of Bachmann, which is due to appear later this year, and we are delighted to mark the 100th anniversary of her birth with an exclusive preview. Peter Filkins will be joined by Ingeborg Bachmann's brother Heinz Bachmann, who will talk about his recent memoir Ingeborg Bachmann. Meine Schwester. Erinnerungen und Bilder.
