Evening Concert: Judith Fliedl

  • Mon 13 Apr 2026
  • 7:00PM

We are delighted to welcome renowned Austrian violinist Judith Fliedl to an evening concert at the ACF, featuring contemporary composers.

dancing with oneself…

What does it mean to stand alone on stage?
When does one enter into contact with oneself - through the voice, through language, through introverted sounds, through expressivity?
And when does contact with the audience emerge?

The concert dancing with oneself explores the role of the soloist in relation to herself, to her instrument, to electronic sounds, and to the audience.

These different forms of encounter are experimentally explored throughout the evening in a moderated concert setting. Drawing on Judith Fliedl’s artistic research - in which she has investigated diverse modes of perception and intersubjective experience - the concert integrates these insights into its structure and dramaturgy. Contemporary music serves as a medium to make relationships audible and tangible: between self and self, between self and other, between self and we.

In this way, the concert opens a space for encounter and reflection on individuality and community.

With works by Lera Auerbach, Kaija Saariaho, François Sarhan, Johanna Doderer, Malin Bång, Esther Mägi, Judith Unterpertinger, Belma Bešlić-Gál.

Judith Fliedl is a Vienna-based violinist and is regarded as one of the most versatile Austrian musicians of her generation. Her artistic work combines solo and chamber music performance with a strong focus on contemporary music, alongside an exceptionally broad repertoire and a deep engagement with artistic research. A national and international prizewinner, she performs worldwide as a soloist and chamber musician and has appeared at major festivals and venues including the Salzburg Festival, Settembre Musicale, Impuls Festival, ECLAT, Beijing Modern Music Festival, Wiener Festwochen, Wien Modern, the Wiener Konzerthaus, the Musikverein Vienna, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. (Awards include the Brahms Competition, NASOM Competition, Jeunesses Musicales Featured Artist Award, and the International Reate Prize for New Music 2025.)

Alongside her performance career, she is a resident member of Klangforum Wien (2023–26) and a Junior Researcher and doctoral candidate at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, where she conducts research on new concert formats and audience involvement. She received the Start Scholarship for Music and the Arts of the Federal Ministry of Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sports in 2023 and the Best Practice Award of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in 2024. She plays on a violin by Lorenzo Storioni (1780) which is privately loaned to her.
