For those of you unable to travel to Graz for the Diagonale Film Festival, The Little Venice Film Festival is screening the feature film Beautiful and Neat Room in London on April 27th. This American-Austrian bitingly absurd comedy about artist clichés, human neuroses and eccentricities within the confined space of the apartment was written, produced and directed by Maria Petschnig (Uncomfortably Comfortable). The film is inspired by her own experiences of cohabitating with other people, having shared her living space with more than 60 roommates over the course of 22 years. She has told The New York Times that sharing her apartment was “a way to survive as an artist in New York City”.
The film had its world premiere in the main competition of the 30th STFF Split International Film Festival (2025) where it won the Grand Prix Award.
The Little Venice Film Festival LVFF has over the past few years been about one thing: making film accessible to everyone—supporting independent filmmakers while championing inclusivity, and creating a space where audiences feel represented both on screen and in the room.
