Blue has significance as having depth, denoting stillness and calm. From Azure Blue to Indigo, Cobalt, Prussian, Ultramarine and Cerulean Blue – Blue is indispensable in painting. Leaning on one side towards the Violet and on the other towards the Green, Blue connects to the other colours of the spectrum.
Abstraction also exists on a spectrum. Lived and observed reality gives rise to so many possibilities of translating it into and depicting it in a painting. Abstraction allows us to enter realms that lie hidden from much of perception. It is a decryption key to levels of emotional and subconscious understanding.
