Christos Marantos graduated with distinction from the Ellinikon Odeon Conservatory and holds a Bachelors and Masters degree from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Marantos is a piano performer focusing on both classical and contemporary music. He has played in various international concerts on important stages such as the Musikverein in Vienna and in 2021 was renounced ‘Bösendorfer Artist.’ As a soloist, Marantos has premiered several piano works and was part of the program of Wien Modern 2021. Other collaborations include performances with the contemporary music ensemble XX. Jahrhundert. The Piano Duo Marantos-Ossberger (2006-2019) has performed across Europe and Asia and in 2011 recorded a CD of Schumann’s works on the Gramola label. Several composers wrote piano works dedicated to the Piano Duo. Marantos teaches piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and in the Johann Sebastian Bach Music School-Diakonie Österreich since 2009, where he has developed a method for team teaching. Marantos’ work focuses on humanitarian concerns. He has curated several artistic events reflecting current social issues, such as ViennAthens (Film Archiv Austria 2019), a cultural project which connects two European capitals by discussing environmental degradation and migration.
