The Feline Project

  • 2 Jul 2020 — 10 Jul 2020

Watch the latest dance project of the Austrian choreographer and dancer Dagmar Dachauer and enjoy her take on 'Cats rule the Internet'.

Through video, live camera and a hyper detailed movement language, Dagmar Dachauer and video artist Kilian Immervoll, explore interactions between humans, cats and robotic pet equivalents – using the elusive Internet cat as a vantage point.

They reflect on the changing relationship between the human and the non-human, the wild and the domestic, the natural and the technologized. Hovering between humor and the uncanny valley, they touch a hidden snare: the ongoing search for companionship and comfort.

Dagmar Dachauer is a freelance dancer, performer, choreographer and film maker, based in Belgium and Austria. She founded the art association Umfug, in which she realizes performances as well as film projects with collaborators coming from various backgrounds such as music, sound design, cinematography, visual arts and ecology.

Kilian Immervoll is a visual artist and film maker based in Vienna. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and at Central Saint Martins in London and his work has been shown internationally.

Last September an excerpt of The Feline Project was performed at the Ars Electronica Festival, one of the largest international festivals for art, technology and society, and the production was featured in this year’s online edition of the dance festival Aerowaves Spring Forward.
