This sparkling comedy is one of Mozart’s most popular early operas. It was premièred in Munich in January 1775, and Mozart wrote home to his mother: “My opera turned out so well that it is impossible for me to describe… After every aria there was the most frightening clamour, with clapping and shouts of ‘Viva Maestro!’”. The Mozartists' cast features an outstanding line-up of young singers headed by sopranos Ava Dodd and Camilla Harris and tenor Hugo Brady.
