Opening the Royal Philharmonic's concert is David Gompper’s energetic Sunburst, which depicts star formation through an explosive array of tonal colours. The fantastic Austrian violinist Wolfgang David continues the drama as he joins the Orchestra for Brahms' Violin Concerto; a work of contrasting emotions, lyricism and sensitivity. Concluding the concert is Tchaikovsky’s magnificent Fourth Symphony; a symphony that is dominated by the opening ‘Fate’ motif, but concludes with a jubilant finale.
